A 2025 case involved a holder who discovered that the titanium backup plate on which they had stamped their seed phrase had been stored for seven years next to a strong neodymium magnet used for a workshop fixture. While titanium is non-magnetic and not directly affected, the holder noticed that the impressions in several letters had been distorted by the mechanical vibration and physical pressure from the workshop environment over time. A specialist was able to read all 24 words under magnification and document them correctly, though the holder had a stressful period believing the backup was compromised before the reading was confirmed.
