Hidden wallet discovered — exchange custody (2021)
BlockedCase description
A Bitcoin-backed investment platform that had attracted $50 million collapsed in November 2021. Post-collapse investigation found the platform had never actually purchased Bitcoin. The platform's 'proof of reserves' page had been a static HTML mockup showing fabricated wallet addresses. The same addresses were shown to every investor regardless of their investment amount.
