Evolution Marketplace had advertised multi-signature escrow as a security feature but did not implement it in practice for the majority of transactions. Standard orders used centralised escrow controlled entirely by the administrators. Vendors and buyers had no on-chain proof of their individual escrow balances. When the platform disappeared, there was no public address to verify holdings against.
