The SEC brought enforcement action against Ripple in November 2020 (charges formally filed in December), triggering a wave of US exchange delistings of XRP and compliance reviews of related accounts. Customers who had exchanged BTC for XRP on US exchanges found their XRP positions locked pending exchange legal review. Several exchanges suspended all XRP trading with 72 hours notice.
