The Bitcoin—purchased near the 2021 high—remained inaccessible in 2024 as prices
BlockedCase description
A hardware wallet user attempted to access a Trezor Model T wallet in early 2024 after the device had been stored unused for three years. The user had set a custom passphrase (25th word) in 2021 and recorded it on a sheet of paper that was subsequently lost. The seed phrase for the wallet was available and correct, but the passphrase created a different derivation path and the wallet appeared empty without it. Recovery services confirmed that without any part of the passphrase being remembered, the space of possible passphrases was computationally unrecoverable. The Bitcoin—purchased near the 2021 high—remained inaccessible in 2024 as prices recovered.
