BlockedCase description
In February 2024, Nigerian authorities detained two Binance executives—Tigran Gambaryan, head of financial crime compliance, and Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance's regional Africa manager—on allegations that Binance's platform had facilitated capital flight and undermined the Nigerian naira. The Nigerian government accused Binance of processing approximately $26 billion in suspicious fund flows through Nigeria. Binance subsequently ceased all Nigerian naira services and suspended P2P trading in Nigeria in March 2024. Nigerian users who relied on Binance's P2P service as a primary means of converting naira to Bitcoin found their primary access route eliminated as a direct consequence of the government-exchange dispute.
