Forced relocation — software wallet (2021)
ConstrainedCase description
Following China's June 2021 comprehensive Bitcoin ban, Chinese Bitcoin holders who had kept BTC on Chinese exchanges were required to close their accounts. Exchanges that had been serving Chinese users redirected customers to offshore entities. The account migration process required re-verification under the offshore entity's KYC standards, which many users failed to complete before deadlines.

What this illustrates
Before anyone could access the funds, a legal process had to be completed first. Whether full access was ultimately possible is unclear, but significant delay or outside intervention was involved.
Outcome interpretation
Access remained possible, but only with delay, dependence, or significant difficulty.
